Tahitian (Reo Tahiti)

Tahitian is a Polynesian language spoken in Tahiti and other islands in French Polynesia.

Approximately 68,000 Tahitian speakers (Omniglot, 2007), mostly in the Society islands but some also in the Tuamotu islands, New Caledonia, New Zealand and Vanuatu.

Also known as Reo Māꞌohi, it is often used as a Lingua Franca in French Polynesia and is closely related to Rarotongan and Hawai'ian.
