The film begins just before the outbreak of the Second World War and tells the story of a German Jewish family who flee Germany and have to adapt to farm life in Kenya.
Walter, a former lawyer, works hard to succeed in his new job as a farm manager and his daughter, Regina, quickly settles in to her new life and picks up the language. His wife, Jettel, struggles most with the change and longs to go home to Germany.
In German and Swahili primarily with some spoken English and with English subtitles.
