Malinké - also called Maninka, Maninga and Maninkakan - has approximately 1.5 million speakers in Guinea, Senegal and Mali where it is mother tongue of the Malinké people. It is part of a group of closely related languages forming the Manding sub-group of the Mande branch of Niger–Congo languages.
