A film set on the vast rolling steppes of Inner Mongolia where a couple, Pagma and Gombo live with their family, raising sheep and cattle. Their peaceful life is interrupted by an incident when a Russian truck driver appears to have crashed his vehicle into the lakeside, and he is helped by Pagma.

The driver brings news from the outside world. The film demonstrates the cultural differences between the Mongols and the Russians, but also shows how they learn to accept each other's cultures.
