A documentary on the lives of some of the people known in Kazakhstan as the Polygon victims, the people from the Semipalatinsk region which from 1949-1991 was used by Soviet Russia as a testing ground for nuclear bombs.

The main focus is on the head of the Maternity hospital in the region and those who believe that the radiation from the nuclear missiles is directly to blame for the prevalence of birth defects still happening today and who want to introduce a 'genetic passport' system to prevent affected people from being able to give birth.
