This classic TV adaptation of a 16th century Sicilian legend, is a suspensful mystery drama that intertwines Southern Italian feudal history, lore and family honour; it is set in Sicily in 1812, when the first liberal constitution is about to end the privileges of the great feudal lords.

A young officer of the Kingdom is sent to investigate the baron of Carini's fief, where his young and beautiful wife's fate seems to replicate that of another baroness who died in those places three centuries before.
