Sciuscià (Shoeshine)

This film is set in post-war Rome and draws on real stories and experiences of those struggling to overcome poverty, unemployment and general oppression.

An account of two boys who dream about a brighter future by polishing shoes for American military personnel, and taking on some petty jobs for more organised gangs.
