Film version of Puccini's opera.

In 1904, Pinkerton, an American naval lieutenant stationed outside Nagasaki, marries the fifteen-year-old Chio-Chio San, nick-named Butterfly. Three years later, Pinkerton has moved away leaving Butterfly to raise a child he is unaware of and await for his return. When Pinkerton does return, however, to Butterfly's despair, it is with an American wife. (Cert. PG)
