Fanciful pastiche that blurs the lines between life and art.

Director Maurizio Nichetti is invited by a TV studio to introduce a screening of his best-known film, 'Ladri di saponette' ('The Icicle Thieves'). But Nichetti is horrified to discover that his neo-realist tale of poverty is to be interspersed with garish commercials. When a power cut causes the film and adverts to become mixed up, Nichetti must enter the film world to protect his creation. (Cert. PG)
