The film is set in June 1982 when the World Cup is taking place in Barcelona and Israel has just invaded Lebanon.

It focuses on Cohen, a young Israeli soldier who is kidnapped by a group of Palestinian soldiers but they find common ground with their love of football and an alliance is forged between the men.
