German for reading

This book enables students to start from scratch and quickly progress towards reading classics of German literature and academic texts.

Each of the 20 chapters takes as its core three or four grammatical areas, describing them with the minimum of explanation but instead providing extensive practice exercises to illustrate the points. Each chapter encourages use of contextual clues and includes simple and more complex learning objects, building up to a reading exercise taken from German literary and cultural history.
