Essential German: living language

New York: Living Language(2011)

A beginner (A1) course in spoken and written German.

Uses a building-block approach, each unit first introducing new vocabulary, followed by longer phrases and sentences and finally explaining how it all fits together in an everyday conversation.

There are comprehension quizzes at the end of each unit for self-evaluation purposes.
