The Baader Meinhof Complex
Uli Edel (2008)
This film explores West Germany of the 1970s and in particular the formation, terrorist activities and eventual imprisonment of the left-wing Red Army Faction (Rote Armee Fraktion), also known as the Baader-Meinhof Gang.
German journalist and mother, Ulrike Meinhof, is depicted in her conversion from radical writer to revolutionary as she joins with Andreas Baader in their brutal war against the fascist tendencies they perceive as remaining in the post-Nazi authoritarian leadership of West Germany.
A fascinating film for viewers interested in the politics and society of a fragile Germany following the Second World War.
