A novel set on the Island of Crete where a young mother is diagnosed with leprosy and sent to live on Spinalonga, a small Island off the coast, once used as a leper colony.

Tells the story of several generations of the family and perceptions of the disease and the island change over time.

In English throughout ; could be used alongside Greek version for parallel reading.
