Alexander the great

Theo Angelopoulos (2011)

The film is based on historical events and is a biography of a Greek historical hero called Theodoros Kolokotronis who is used in the film as a metaphor for Greece.

The story is focussed on Alexander, who escapes from prison in 1900 and kidnaps some British aristocrats to use as a ransom against amnesty for himself and his men.

In Greek throughout with optional English subtitles.
