This film is based on the novel of the same name by Irène Némirovsky, set during the Second World War in Nazi-occupied France.

When German soldiers arrive in their village, Lucille and her dominant mother-in-law find themselves hosting a German Commander called Bruno, who ignites a dangerous infatuation in Lucille.

In French with optional French subtitles and passages of English with French subtitles.
