A textbook teaching the basics of French grammar beginning with a section on pronunciation and then moving on to: nouns, articles and prepositions; verbs, adjectives and adverbs; the indicative and subjunctive tenses; object, relative and pronouns; the passive voice and common idiomatic constructions essential to French language.
Each of the 25 chapters then contain a reading extract to translate featuring authors such as Victor Hugo, Gustave Flaubert, Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir.
