Les raquetteurs
Gilles Groulx and Michel Brault (2005)
With great exuberance and almost devoid of dialogue and narration, "Les raquetteurs" aesthetically captures the mood and spirit of an annual snow-shoeing competition of American and Canadian snow-shoeing clubs taking place in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
The viewer is lured into a carnival-like world of cold, wintry open spaces, exciting competitive races and a beauty pageant accompanied by exhilarating music and frenetic dancing.
In French, with some English dialogue. Optional subtitles available in French or English. Includes Quebecois colloquialism.
