Jean Vigo (1934)

A black and white film about a newly-married couple Jean and Juliette. Jean is working on a barge and takes Juliette to live with him on the Seine, in the company of the eccentric crew and lots of cats.

The cramped conditions and lack of privacy puts a strain on their marriage and the relationship starts to unravel. A bored Juliette heads off to find exitement in Paris. Jean, overcome with losing his wife, leaves it up to the strange old second mate to find her.
