Looking at various historical episodes that have bound France and the black community, this documentary was filmed in metropolitan France, the Antilies and Senegal.

It takes the form of an investigation featuring archival footage and aims to explore slavery, colonialism and african immigration and their impact upon the identity of the black community and, in turn, its representation in French society.
