Les amants réguliers
Garrel, Philippe, 2004.
Recalling the Nouvelle Vague cinema of the era it explores, this film provides an evocative portrayal of May 1968 and its aftermath in Paris.
François, a twenty year old poet, and his friends are involved in the student riots at the barricades and later take up a bohemian existence to explore their revolutionary ideals. However, as events unfold, the bleakness and constraints of everyday reality return to challenge the futures the characters try to envisage for themselves.
In French with optional English subtitles.
