Le corbeau
Clouzot, Henri-Georges, [2004]
Described as "the premier film about the German occupation of France", this is a crime drama set in a small French town where a series of poison-pen letters signed "Le corbeau" appear denouncing several prominent members of society, including the local doctor, Docteur Germain.
Somber in tone and colour, the film portrays a time when beneath the respectful and calm surface of life lurks a darker side in which everyone is a suspect.
In French throughout with no subtitles.
