This is the journal of Jean Moulin, prefect of Eure-et-Loir in 1940 when Hitler's forces came into power in the occupied zone of France during World War 2.

Moulin describes the atrocities he witnessed and the critical decisions he made at personal risk to safeguard his citizens and defend the integrity of the French people, before being forced to relinquish his authority to Nazi officials.
