Godard's eight-part series looks back at a century of motion pictures. The series combines the innovations of his often improvisational video work with a passionate engagement in the issues of twentieth-century history and the history of film itself. Individual films explore the cinema under headings such as 'Fatale beauté', 'La monnaie de l'absolu' and 'Une nouvelle vague'.
