Thoughtful crime drama based on a novel by Georges Simenon.

Michel Descombes is a watchmaker who lives with his grown-up son in the district of Saint-Paul, Lyons. One day, he is visited by Inspector Guiboud, who informs him that his son has commited a murder. As Michel tries to help the police inspector understand the motives behind the crime, he begins to reassess his relationship with his son.
