Drama set in 1930s Vietnam.

Eliane Devries owns one of the largest rubber plantations in Indochina. When Eliane meets the young officer Jean-Baptiste at an auction she embarks on a brief affair, finally deciding she can never see him again. Meanwhile, her adoptive daughter Camille and Jean-Baptiste have fallen in love, leading Camille on journey out of the plantation that eventually introduces her to the Independence movement.
