Ugolin and Cesar Soubeyran are ready to pounce on an adjacent plot of land when its owner dies, hoping to secure its valuable spring water for themselves. But their plans are scuppered when the eager Jean Cadoret, the man who has inherited the property, and his family move in. Still determined to get the spring for themselves, the Soubeyrans go to great lengths to hide it from Jean, even when it causes the family to suffer. (Cert. PG)
