Truffaut, François
Poetic drama of love and friendship.
In 1912, Jim, a young Parisian writer befriends Austrian writer Jules. Soon after, both men fall in love with the flirty and flighty Catherine, who exhibits the same enigmatic smile as a statue the two friends had become transfixed by. After fighting on opposite sides in the First World War, Jim is reunited with Jules, who is now married to Catherine, and finds himself embroiled in their precarious relationship. (Cert. 15)
