Against the background of the Algerian War, a group of teenagers try to come to terms with their outlooks on the world. François finds himself attracted to his classmate Serge, who is in turn interested in Maite, the daughter of their Communist teacher Madame Alvarez. As François struggles with his sexuality, the arrival Algerian-born Henri brings the implications of the war closer to home. (Cert. 15)
