Satirical drama based on the novel by Stendhal.

In post-Napoleonic France, Julian Sorel, the aesthete son of a carpenter, tries desperately to climb the social ladder. Although he is expected to channel his career aspirations into the church, his intensely romantic liaisons propel forward at a pace he cannot control. Once he arrives in Paris, Julien finds his ambitions at odds with the questionable values of high society.
