Documents from which the contents were sourced include the 'Gazette de France' and 'Gazette de Leyde'. The subjects addressed range from domestic themes such as culinary tips and recipes, to larger subjects such as the place of women in society, the slave trade in Britain, the 'Déclaration des Droits de l'Homme et du Citoyen', and entertainment announcements from the Théâtre Français.

Includes drawings and engravings from the period. This book will be of interest to intermediate and advanced students of French, as well as historians.
