This book takes the learner from the basics of writing an essay (defining and understanding the writing process) to writing a research paper.

Investigates techniques such as paraphrasing, summarising and citing of sources before describing different types of essay (purpose, argument, comparison and cause-effect) and looking at some particular writing strategies to improve each kind before finally analysing the writing of research paper.

Analsis and exercises become more difficult as the book progresses and students are encouraged to produce their own writing alongside usng the book.
