A comprehensive and corpus-based reference grammar to Chinese, covering syntax, word formation, verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, use of tenses, comparison, relative constructions, and other grammatical aspects pertaining to the Chinese language.

The introductory chapter briefly discusses the language varieties and the writing systems and includes a useful English/Chinese and Chinese/English term list.

The book illustrates grammatical points with examples in Chinese script followed by pronunciation and English translation. It also includes an appendix on punctuation and an index.
