A graded reader containing six short stories in Chinese.

The stories are by well-known modern Chinese authors and have been abridged to comprise approx. 1000 Chinese words (870 from the 1033 words listed as Level A HSK). Stories appear in simplified Chinese characters and Pinyin with summaries and author profiles in English.

English translations are given for a few particularly difficult words and there is a full Chinese-English glossary at the back of the book. All stories are read in Chinese on the accompanying CD.
