This text introduces intermediate level students of Chinese to basic phrases for talking about topics such as introducing oneself, buying food and finding your way around town.

Following the model examples, substitution drills are used to illustrate the grammatical structures of the phrases used. Learners progress to more detailed conversations, covering a wide range of vocabulary which is consolidated in the glossary at the back of the book.

Suitable for learners already familiar with some basic phrases on the topics provided, who are wishing to expand their vocabulary and prioritise speaking practice using audio recordings of all the material on the accompanying discs.
