Yue is a group of languages in the Sinitic branch of the Sino-Tibetan language family. The most widely spoken form of Yue, that of Canton, provides an umbrella term for the whole complex - Cantonese. Yue is spoken in areas of Guangdong and Guangxi provinces, Hong Kong and Macau. Over 64 million people speak a Yue dialect in the People's Republic of China and adjacent territories.
