Zeresenay Berhane Mehari (2014)

The film is set in rural Ethiopia and looks at the ancient tradition of forcing young girls into marriage.

Difret,a 14 year old girl is abducted and raped on her way home from school and in a bid to escape, shoots and kills her captor. Her case is taken up by a tenacious, young lawyer, who fights to prove that Difret was merely acting in self defence.
