Alyawarra (Alayawarr, Alyawarre, Aljawara, Iliaura, Yowera) is an Aboriginal language of Australia, spoken in the Sandover and Tennant Creek areas, Northern Territory and Queensland. There are approx. 1.500 speakers (Ethnologue database). There was no written form of the language until anthropologists after 1900 began to make phonetic transcripts to describe plant and animal names.
