Language Teaching and Learning

- a resource guide for graduate students in language-based disciplines

This resource is designed primarily for graduate students in language based disciplines, considering future careers in academia and/or language teaching in other sectors.

It is compiled from materials developed for and presented at training workshops organised by the Faculties of Modern and Medieval Languages and Asian and Middle Eastern Languages, with additional support from the Language Centre.

It is not designed to be a fully comprehensive guide to everything a graduate student needs to know. Additional resources will be added here as further events take place.

It is organised into themes:

Language teaching and learning in UK HE - setting the context
Approaches to language teaching: an introduction
Approaches to language teaching: syllabus design and lesson planning
Teaching Grammar
Teaching Translation as part of language teaching
Online language teaching and learning

Within each theme you will find materials presented at workshops (resources) and suggested sources of further information, training and reading (references).
