CULP: Enrolment Procedure

Enrolment Procedure

Enrolment on CULP Courses

All CULP Courses are enrolled through The Language Centre UTBS site.

For Specialist Courses (except Languages for Academic Purposes Courses (LAP)), enrolment is through the relevant School, Faculty or Department.

Graduate students from Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences who wish to enrol on Languages for Academic Purposes (LAP) should follow the link to the UTBS enrolment page. Please note that these courses are for Postgraduate students of SAH and SHSS only.

Eligibility to join General CULP Courses

The courses are open to:

      • Matriculated students
      • University Staff, including Cambridge Assessment and Cambridge University Press provided they procure a Raven password
      • Academic Visitors

Unfortunately, the courses are not open to:

      • Alumni and University members’ spouses

Raven Password

      • Our General Courses are available to members of the Collegiate University with Raven access, a e-mail address and a University Card (please note that the Language Centre cannot provide you with either of these);
      • CULP courses are delivered in a blended mode and access to a multi-media capable computer is necessary. Should you need to, you can use the computers in the Language Centre;


      • Please note that the Language Centre reserves the right to cancel groups that fail to enrol at least 12 students. Anyone in a group that is cancelled will be offered the option of either enrolling in an alternative group or being fully refunded.


    • Students: £265 to be paid online (select 'Concessionary'). Students may be able to request financial contribution from their College towards the payment of CULP fees. Please note that any such contribution will be at the discretion of the College.
    • Staff including Colleges and UCLES* staff: £295 to be paid online (select 'Full').
      (* please see that you obtain a Raven password and a e-mail account from your Institution);
    • Please note our cancellation policy on all CULP courses as stated in all UTBS bookings. 

Note that refunds can only be given immediately after the first session of the course. To request a refund, you should contact the CULP Administrator before the second session.

Step-by-step guide to enrolment


Go to the CULP page of the language of interest;

2. Read the descriptors (outline, syllabus, Framework for Languages, old tests, teaching staff) and select a level and group (timetable available on the same page);
3. Follow the link to the UTBS enrolment page;
4. Select your language, level and group;
5. Sign up;

Check your mail. Open the confirmation e-mail and follow a link to the online store; please keep the confirmation email as this is your receipt.

7. Pay the fee;

Payment is required within 24 hours of your booking to secure your place. Where no payment is received, your name will be removed from the UTBS enrolment database and the place offered to another student;


Please indicate any illness, disability or religious observance of which we should be aware, on the UTBS at the time of enrolment under the heading Special Requirements.
