ADTIS: Assessments and Assessment Procedures

ERASMUS

Exchange Students

Students at University partners who wish to study at the University as an exchange student will need to apply through their Erasmus/exchange coordinator at their home institution.

All students who are non-native speakers of English are required to sit an online English assessment as part of their application. Details of the assessment including passwords will be sent to the student’s Erasmus/Exchange coordinator, who will make the necessary arrangements for you to sit the assessment. Assessments are carried out under exam conditions and consist of three parts: reading, writing and listening, each lasting no longer than one hour. You may also be required to have an oral assessment carried out over audio call.

Students are exempt from taking the assessment if they already have one of the following qualifications which must have been obtained in the last two years:

    1. IELTS: a minimum overall grade of 7.0, with 7.0 in each element
    2. TOEFL: overall score of 100, with no element below 25
    3. C1 Advanced: overall score of 193, with no element lower than 185, plus an assessment by the Language Centre
    4. C2 Proficiency: overall score of 200, with no element lower than 185

On completion of the assessment, the Language Centre will make a recommendation to the International Student Office of the outcome of the assessment.

The International Student Office will notify you of the outcome.

Erasmus traineeship

Erasmus students, both those undertaking study placements and traineeships (work placements) are required to fulfil the University’s standard English language requirements. In accordance with institutional procedures for Erasmus, the home university should confirm a student’s level of English language competence but the student also needs to be assessed by the Language Centre. Alternatively, the student can provide an acceptable English language test.
