Advanced French
The Advanced French section contains materials which support the teaching of the French Department in the Modern and Medieval Languages faculty. However all LC Online Users can use the materials to support their own learning.
CULP Dossiers - French
CULP Dossiers are designed to provide advanced practice for students of French, including specialists, post-CULP, and other advanced learners. Each dossier focuses on a specific topic, and contains audio-visual and text materials with associated activities, and related grammar and cultural notes.
Grammatical Terminology
Grammatical Terminology covers the basic elements of French grammatical terminology. Each sections begins with a quiz to test knowledge and understanding of grammatical terms. Links from the answer pages provide explanations and examples of grammatical terms.
French Grammar
The French Grammar section is designed to support the teaching of French Part IA in the Modern and Medieval Languages faculty. However all students of French can use the materials to support their own learning.
It contains of a set of grammar notes, information and interactive exercises on past tenses and verbs, and the Lent 2002 grammar test.
French Listening Comprehension
A set of specimen and past listening comprehension papers. Each paper consists of a video clip with a transcript, the original question paper and sample answers for the questions.
Use of French
This aims to complement and support the work done in Use of French classes. Specifically, to develop an awareness of the Use of French in a variety of contexts and registers, to extend and consolidate grammar and syntax, knowledge of structure and idioms, and to extend knowledge of vocabulary.
