Jackie Bow

Profile

Jackie has a Joint Honours degree in French and German and gained a PGCE at King's College, London. Her teaching experience is wide-ranging and includes GCSE and A level teaching in the maintained and the independent sectors in London and Cambridge, as well as language teaching in Adult and Higher Education. She is a consultant for a major Examination Board and a Principal Examiner for IGCSE and O Level language papers. She has contributed to Asset Languages and was a team leader representing the UK for SurveyLang, a major European Commission initiative supporting the development of language learning policies across Europe. Jackie was a board member of Routes East, one of the consortium of Routes into Languages.

She has worked at the Language Centre, as Project Manager for CULP4SC and has been involved with CULP since the programmes were first launched in 2000.

Clément Courouve

Profile

Clément Courouve grew up in a small, wine-producing village in the Moselle valley, France.

He became a teacher of French at the University of Cambridge in 2011 and has been sharing his life between these two places ever since, maintaining a close connection with his home country.

His teaching covers both specialist and non-specialist courses for the Department of French (Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages) and the Language Unit (Department of Engineering), and he also supervises French MML papers for a number of Colleges.

In 2017, he was made Special Supervisor of Studies at Fitzwilliam College.

In addition to his teaching commitments, Clément regularly acts as a proofreader for the publisher Hachette.

He joined the Language Centre, where he will be teaching Academic Reading in French, French for Medics and general language courses, in 2018.


Isabelle Fournier

Isabelle Fournier

Profile

Isabelle grew up in the south-west of France (Bergerac) and went to university in Bordeaux and in Germany. Isabelle has lived in Cambridge for several years and has been teaching CULP French at the Language Centre since 2010.

She has also been an Assistant Lecturer at the Open University, a BBC author (BBC French Grammar, BBC Talk French 1), and a Principal examiner at Cambridge Assessment.

Ashwiny Kistnareddy

Profile

Ashwiny is a native bilingual speaker of French and English, originally from Mauritius (Ile Maurice). She has a First class joint honours degree from University of Warwick, a Licence en Lettres Modernes from Paris IV Sorbonne avec mention, an MPhil in French studies from the University of Nottingham as well as a PGCE (with distinction) in Modern Languages. She is currently completing her PhD in French literature at The University of Cambridge.

She has taught at various levels for the last 11 years. She was a lectrice  at the University of Nottingham. She taught French and Spanish in a secondary school for 5 years, and was responsible for GCSE and A-level classes. She also taught Advanced French for Adults in a local language school.

Ashwiny has taught for the University of Cambridge Language Centre for 2 years, delivering Intermediate Medics’ French courses, as well as providing cover for Basic and Intermediate classes. She has also been a dissertation supervisor and translation tutor at the Medieval and Modern Languages Faculty, and a language tutor at St John’s College, French section. As a lectrice, Ashwiny teaches French to undergraduates at Gonville and Caius College.


Dr Marie-Géraldine Lea

Marie-Géraldine LEa

Profile

Marie-Géraldine comes from Toulouse in the south of France. After completing her MA in linguistics, she arrived in the UK, 19 years ago, to do fieldwork for her PhD in Social Anthopology from the E.H.E.S.S. While working at Leeds University, she decided to stay in England. She then took a second degree in Teaching French as a Foreign Language. She worked for a time in academic publishing before becoming, 9 years ago, an Associate Lecturer at the Open University. At the same time, she took part in language-related projects for Cambridge Assessment. She also teaches at an Independent school in Cambridge.

For the last few years, she has been composing and staging musicals for children in French to build fluency and confidence. When she is not teaching, she writes mystery novels for adults (set in Cambridge) and for children. Her other passion is photography.

Marie-Géraldine will not be teaching during the Academic Year 2018/19, but she will be back in 2019/20.
