The mission

Set in 18th century South America, the film tells the story of a Spanish Jesuit who sets up a mission in the jungle in the hope of converting the local Guarani Indians. He is later joined by a mercenary and slave hunter who is converted by the missionary.
When Spain trades the colony to Portugal, they are forced to defend all they have built against the Portuguese aggressors; the film won the Palme d'Or and the Academy Award for Best Cinematography.
In English with some French and Italian and with optional English, French, Italian and Arabic subtitles.
