Ricci, out of work and hopelessly poor, finally finds a job as a poster-hanger. To do the job, however, he needs a bicycle and the family is forced to pawn their bed sheets in order to obtain one. But when his bicycle gets stolen, Ricci and his son set out on an epic search that takes them through the streets of post-war Rome. (Cert. U)
