Film about the life of the young Artemisia Gentileschi (1593-1653), considered to be the first significant female figure in western art.
The daughter of an established Renaissance painter, Orazio Gentileschi, Artemisa grows up in Rome, passionate about her art and attempting to break the restrictions imposed upon women artists - such as painting the male nude. She asks her father's colleague and rival, Agostino Tassi (Miki Manojlovic) to tutor her, with disastrous consequences.
In French with English subtitles.
