A new Arabic grammar of the written language
J.A. Haywood and H.M. Nahmad (1965)
With short exercises at the end of each chapter, this is a highly theoretical grammar of the Arabic language suitable for advanced learners who are fully conversant with the script.
The examples given use a vocabulary of over 4,000 words and includes selections from the Qu'ran, stories and fables, newspaper articles and some classical Arabic writings.
Appendix A supplies an introduction to the main colloquial dialects, but this text is focused in the main on Modern Standard Arabic.
