Activities Introduction

WhyNotLang@Cam - Language Centre outreach activities

The Language Centre delivers various activities to promote and enhance language learning in schools and colleges.

We organise and deliver a number of events for schools (mainly in the East of England) with low participation in Higher Education, to promote transition and progression from KS3 to KS4; from KS4 to Sixth Form and from Sixth Form into studying languages at university level. We work in partnership with colleagues in the Faculties of Modern and Medieval Languages and Asian and Middle Eastern Languages, and with Magdalene and Downing Colleges.

Forthcoming events, dates and booking information can be found on the event Calendar.

We recruit Student Language Ambassadors to assist with these events and have recorded testimonials from them about their language learning backgrounds and motivations.

The Language Centre offers schools free access to online learning resources developed by us for our own students, and successfully used in numerous schools to stimulate language learning. These are made available as Open Courseware, under a Creative Commons Licence.
