Location and Facilities

The Language Centre is in the Old Music School building in Downing Place. It is centrally located, only minutes away from the Market Square and the Cambridge Colleges. click here to see where we are on the University map.

The Language Centre was established as an academic institution in 1990 and supports the teaching and learning of languages throughout the University. There are four teaching rooms, each fitted with an interactive SmartBoard and a plasma screen. The John Trim Centre for independent learning has 24 multimedia workstations and houses diverse resources (audio, video, text, television, CD-ROMS) and online facilities for language-learning purposes.

The English language-learning collection caters to the advancement of competence in all skill areas. Test preparation materials are also available for students. The Centre aims to make your language-learning experience as enjoyable and successful as possible.
